Researching
the Practice
BDes Program in Visual Communication and Strategic Branding at Srishti Manipal Institute | 2024
This learning unit that I facilitated for the Year 2 BDes students, explores relationships between messages / experiences / stories / ideas / and media of expression to understand historical and current contexts in the ares of Art and Design.
Researching the Practice immerses, explores and reflects on the evolution of visual communication design and its practice in its journey to the present. It looks at the myriad influences that Visual Communication has on society, the role that history, culture, economics plays in shaping Visual Communication and the pivotal role that it plays in defining the zeitgeist of the times.

Output: Students were briefed to emerge with multiple outputs such as zines that discussed an artist/artwork/art or design movement they have researched. It further extended to game designs as a part of group projects. All the zines shown in the images are hand-made by the students.
